Dream on, all

Dreams are the backbone of all progress, the very design of improvement and forward motion.  Every event began with a dream; a sort of clouded idea in the back of the brain, birthed suddenly or sometimes slowly, over time.  It all begins with a simple thought, or simply, something hoped for, which does not yet exist in the framework of reality.  Dreams are essential.
This is why I am devastated when I hear Christians say such things as “let your dream die, so you can accomplish God’s plans.”  This belief implies that anything you could dream could not possibly be okay or destined for you because your dreams will always be bad.  They will always be unnecessary or unfulfilling.  Your dreams will leave you unaccomplished and sad.  Sure, God may call you to give things up for a season, or maybe even to change your path.  That does happen.  But are your dreams inherently  bad?  Absolutely not.
Let’s be clear about this: God died for all and all died on the Cross with Him.  Therefore, the false identity that we are separate from God has been abolished, whether we chose to believe this or not.  God is close to all!  Therefore, is it not possible that our dreams, present before or after belief, are divine?  A beautifully orchestrated reminder of worth and God’s availability to making this world better- whether it is through believer or non?  If I have a desire or dream, I will not dismiss it, despite what others may tell me.  I, of course, will bring it to the Lord and let Him be the Guide, but I will not dismiss it.  Dreams are too essential- too wondrous in that they bring promise.  They bring about all we hope to be true.
