Things I've Discovered Being a Mommy

First of all, I've discovered that changing diapers has really become a two person job, maybe three.  Elliot twists and turns his body, until I want to give up and let him pee and poop wherever he wants.  This is so gross, it's almost embarrassing to admit, but thankfully, I've never followed through!

Then, there's this whole "I birthed my brain" scenario. It really exists!  Three times so far I've called someone and then put the phone down, only to hear a distant "hello, hello?"  I actually call someone and in the seconds it takes for an answer, I totally forget I even dialed a number!  This can't be happening to me!

Lastly, I love taking naps with my son.  Elliot is NOT a cuddlier-not even close.  He climbs all over the place, even when in your arms and it makes you want to ask, "Where do you think you are going?  You can't fly!"  It's hilarious though and I love his adventurous spirit.  However, if you hold him still just a little and you sing to him, he will fall asleep in your arms.  This is what we did today and it was so tender and sweet.  I stared at his still face, with his little nose and his tiny eyelids- all so graceful and peaceful as sleep carried him somewhere temporary and calm.  I stared at him and entered my own dreamland- only to wake as the little arms began to stir and his ever moving hands gently raked the side of my stomach.  He opened his eyes just as I did- and I thought, "There is nothing better than being a mother."
